Video poker rules and practice guide

24/7 Poker is a free video poker practice simulator with Classic Poker, Ultimate X, Super Times Pay, and Tricky Hands training. Play with practice credits and learn how the game and pay schedule affect which cards to hold. There are no real-money deposits, withdrawals, or cash prizes.

How to play video poker

  1. Choose a practice buy-in, poker game, pay schedule, denomination, and number of hands.
  2. Deal five cards. Select the cards you want to keep, then draw replacements for the others.
  3. Your final hand pays according to the selected pay schedule. Payouts are credits returned, including the winning wager, rather than net profit.

In multi-hand play, the held cards are shared across every line. Each line draws its replacements independently from a deck excluding the original five cards. Playing more hands increases the total wager and produces more results per deal.

9/6 versus 8/5 Jacks or Better

Jacks or Better defaults to 9/6 Full Pay; 8/5 is also selectable. The two numbers describe the full house and flush payouts per base coin.

Jacks or Better payout comparison
Winning hand9/6 schedule8/5 schedule
Full house9 per coin8 per coin
Flush6 per coin5 per coin
Three of a kind3 per coin3 per coin
Pair of Jacks or better1 per coin1 per coin

With five base coins, a natural royal flush pays 4,000 credits. With fewer base coins, it pays 250 credits per coin. The selected schedule applies to every draw line. Different schedules can change the best hold; check SEE PAYS before comparing strategies.

Which poker game are you practicing?

The app includes Jacks or Better, Bonus Poker, Double Bonus, Double Double Bonus, Bonus Poker Deluxe, Triple Double Bonus, and Deuces Wild. Bonus variants change awards for four of a kind, kickers, or other categories, so a hold learned in one game may not be best in another.

Deuces Wild

Every 2 is wild and can stand in for another card. A pair or two pair does not pay; three of a kind is the lowest paying category. Natural royal flushes, wild royal flushes, five of a kind, and four deuces have distinct awards. Check the lesson's game label and pay schedule before choosing your hold.

Ultimate X and Super Times Pay

Ultimate X

With the feature active, a winning final hand can earn a multiplier for that same line's next deal. The current multiplier changes today's payout; the newly earned multiplier applies on the following play. Losing a draw consumes its current multiplier too.

Ultimate X suggestions include an estimate of future multiplier value. They are not certified optimal long-run strategy. New Ultimate X draws are excluded from accuracy grading, mistake totals, and coach streak scoring.

Super Times Pay

Super Times Pay uses five base coins plus one feature coin per hand. A random multiplier can boost all winning hands on the current board. Since it multiplies every winning category equally, the best hold follows the same strategy as the underlying five-coin poker game and pay schedule.

Practice holds with the strategy coach

The EV analyzer compares all 32 ways to hold or discard the five dealt cards. Expected value is a long-run average return, not a promise about the next draw. Classic Poker and Super Times Pay use exact current-draw probabilities; Ultimate X adds the estimated future value described above.

Tricky Hands offers a daily ten-hand challenge, a catalog of 100 scenarios, and focused five-hand practice topics. Each lesson names its own game and pay schedule. Lesson settings are separate from your cabinet game, and trainer decisions do not spend your cabinet bankroll.

Saving and privacy

Saved hands, practice bankroll, and trainer progress stay in your browser's local storage. There is no account or cloud sync. Clearing site data can erase progress. A different browser or domain has separate saved data.
